POI FEB RAS scientists have become “KOLBA” award winners

On April 17, 2026, the fifth KOLBA Forum and Award Ceremony took place at the A.S. Vishnyakov Digital and Information Technologies Building of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (Moscow). KOLBA is the only annual interdisciplinary award in Russia dedicated to women scientists.

The project is aimed to popularize science, develop role models for the younger generation, and build a talent pool in research, technology, and innovation. Particular attention is paid to increasing the media visibility of women in science, sharing experiences, and supporting professional growth.

The competition welcomes women scientists of all ages, including young professionals under 35 who hold an academic degree or are actively pursuing research. Nominations span over 30 fields, from biology, physics, chemistry, and medicine to ecology, geology, mathematics, robotics, and astronautics.

In 2026 the employees of the Laboratory for Integrated Research of Environment and Mineral Resources of POI FEB RAS have become “KOLBA” Prize winners:

In the Geology category – Nadezhda Sergeevna Syrbu, PhD in Geology and Mineralogy, Head of the Laboratory;

In the Microbiology category – Anna Leonidovna Ponomareva, PhD in Biology, Senior Researcher.
