11.06.2026

On May 28, 2026, an International scientific and practical conference "Mathematics and its Application in Science and Education" was held in St. Petersburg, it was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the St. Petersburg Order of Honor of the Hero of the Russian Federation General of the Army E.N. Zinichev University of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

The employees of the Laboratory of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems of POI FEB RAS together with colleagues from St. Petersburg State University (Department of Oceanology) presented their reports with great success on the important and promising role of Lagrangian modeling as a forecasting and management tool in the marine environment for the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Lebedeva Maria Alekseevna, a first-year graduate student, presented a report on modeling the ways and times of radiation pollution transfer in the Sea of Japan during a potential emergency at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa NPP.

Pavel Arkadyevich Fayman, PhD, a leading researcher, told about the unique development of Lagrangian methods for searching for bodies of people who died in the waters of Peter the Great Bay.

Maxim Vasilyevich Budyansky, PhD, a leading researcher, made a report on the materials of the article "Lagrangian modeling of radionuclide propagation in the waters of the Persian Gulf in the event of the destruction of the Bushehr NPP reactor complex", which was published in the journal "Reports of the Russian Academy of Sciences".

All reports were received with great interest and sparked an active discussion. We hope that such "mass" performances by colleagues will lead to the development of joint scientific and applied work between the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and St. Petersburg State University.
