The powerful, warm Pacific Kuroshio Current brings pufferfish, mako sharks, and massive bluefin tuna into the Vladivostok waters. This pattern was identified by scientists from the Il'ichev Pacific Oceanological Institute (POI FEB RAS) using satellites and mathematical models. Water flows passing through the Tsushima Strait travel to the coast of Japan, while a portion moves toward the coast of Primorye, influencing the migration of southern fish. These marine creatures do not even need to expend energy swimming – giant ocean eddies up to 100 kilometers in diameter literally deliver them here. Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sergey Prants explained that the fish may stay in our region until September, until the sea water temperature drops.
