5th Russia–China Marine Science Symposium

From 23 to 25 November 2026, Vladivostok will host the 5th Russia–China Marine Science Symposium, organised by the V.I. Il'ichev Pacific Oceanological Institute (POI), Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in partnership with the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO) of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China. The event is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China.

The symposium theme is “Oceanic Processes and Climate Change: From Past to Future.” Key topics include physical oceanography, paleoceanography, marine geology, climate change, ecosystem dynamics, marine mineral resources, and marine technologies.

This biennial symposium has traditionally served as a platform for fruitful dialogue between Russian and Chinese scientists, enabling the exchange of the latest research findings and strengthening international collaboration. This year, it will be held in a face‑to‑face format at the AZIMUT City Hotel Vladivostok (10 Naberezhnaya St.). The working language is English.

Important deadlines:

  • Abstract submission (in .docx format, up to 4 pages) – 1 November 2026;
  • Programme release – 15 November 2026.

All abstracts submitted by participants last year due to the postponement of the symposium remain valid and will be included in the programme.
